In spring of 2014, Aerohive superstar, Janet Rae, become the first Aerohive Networks System Engineer to obtain the coveted Certified Wireless Networking Expert (CWNE) certification. Today I am proud to announce that there are now two more Aerohive System Engineers that have a CWNE number on their business cards: Welcome Troy Martin and Jeff Haydel!

In case you aren’t familiar with any of these rock stars, let me introduce them individually:

Janet Rae, CWNE #137: Is a Corporate Systems Engineer based out of Aerohive Headquarters in Sunnyvale, CA. Janet tests and creates complete 'ready for market' solutions that Aerohive SEs can replicate, deploy, and sell. Janet works with the entire SE team so that they can properly troubleshoot, evaluate and resolve complex product interactions that produce results.

Troy Martin, CWNE #90: Joined Aerohive in late 2014 and has been a CWNE for several years. I first met Troy while teaching an Aerohive class in Calgary, Alberta over four years ago. At the time, Troy worked for an Aerohive partner and I was immediately struck by top-notch Wi-Fi skills and knowledge. Troy earned Bachelor degrees in both Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of Saskatchewan. Troy has deployed and optimized Wi-Fi networks in mines, refineries, chemical plants, and manufacturing plants in the freezing tundra known as Canada.

Jeff Haydel,CWNE #163: Grew up in South Louisiana and earned his degree in Computer Engineering from Mississippi State University (MSU). Before joining Aerohive, Jeff spent seven years supporting the wired and wireless networking at MSU. He has also spent time as a wireless SE at an Aerohive partner and at Brocade. Jeff is a now a Principal Systems Engineer at Aerohive and the latest member of the CWNE club.

I have had the pleasure of watching Jeff in action with Aerohive customers and partners alike. Jeff is a WLAN legend in Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee and Kentucky. Jeff has since become an important leader here at Aerohive.

Jeff pens our popular 'notes from the field' blog series in which he writes about sleuthing out mysterious customer issues that are challenging, but ultimately end in resolution.

Janet, Troy and Jeff have inspired other system engineers here at Aerohive and we fully expect more CWNEs in the near future. Aerohive now has seven CWNEs in our ranks:

1) David Coleman– CWNE #4

Not familiar with CWNP?

CWNP, founded in 1999, is the IT industry standard for vendor neutral enterprise Wi-Fi certification and training. CWNE is the top-level vendor-neutral certification offered by the CWNP program. To become a CWNE, a WLAN professional must pass four very hard exams about 802.11 wireless networking administration, security, analysis and design. But keep in mind, that passing four tests is only the beginning. All CWNE applicants must establish many years of WLAN experience, meticulously document involvement with numerous WLAN projects and seek endorsements from respected WLAN industry professionals. The CWNP Board of Advisors must approve all CWNE applications.

IT professionals in over 150 countries have pursued the foundation level vendor neutral 802.11 certification of Certified Wireless Networking Administrator (CWNA). Many thousands of WLAN professionals are CWNA certified, however, currently less than 200 individuals are card-carrying CWNEs.
